warmt start

Hello my name is Olaf and I am from the Netherlands. I can speak and read German but writing is a bit too difficult. So hopefully it is ok if I write this post in English but you can reply in German!

Since two weeks I am the proud owner of the Maico M250B, 1963. With thanks to Gunter I now know the procedure how to start the motor when it is cold. However when the motor is warm I can not start it again. Could someone indicate what could be wrong?

Hallo Olaf,
heiße Motoren starten selten gut. Das Benzin im Vergaser kann Dampfblasen bilden und der Vergaser erzeugt dann kein zündfähiges Gemisch.
Ein Trick ist den Benzinhahn rechtzeitig vor dem Abstellen des Motor zu schließen. Beim Öffnen des Benzinhahn bekommt der Vergaser dann kühlen Treibstoff aus dem Tank.

Hallo Gunter,

Today I started the motor and it was running very fast and I closed the fuel tap before stopping the motor. However when I tried to start when it was warm did not start. Could it be the wrong spark plug? When bought the motor a NGK B7HS spark plug was mounted. Is this right one or do you recommend another spark plug?

Hallo Olaf,

mit NGK-Zündkerzen gibt es schon mal Probleme. Alternativ gibt es Kerzen von Bosch, Beru und Champion.
Wenn die Maschine 20 Jahre stand denke der Motor zieht Nebenluft, Zündung und Vergaser sind nicht in Ordnung und nicht optimal eingestellt. Ich gehe davon aus das ALLES erst einmal überarbeitet werden muss. Es macht wenig Sinn über die Wahl der richtigen Zündkerze zu philosophieren, da wir gar nicht wissen in welchem Zustand Motor und Anbauteile sind. Bei den Maicorijders gibt es einen Motorenspezialist den Arie, spreche mal mit ihm.
